Evaluation - Induction Performance
Wednesday, the 10th of October 2018
It was different performing on a real stage than performing in the classroom. With all the spotlights, the black colour everywhere and the rows of chairs in front of us, the feeling was magic. Only if those emotions were nicer to me..
What do I think I have developed? Firstly, every time I play in front of someone I gain confidence in myself and my skills, no matter if that someone is a person or a real audience; I get more comfortable to speak in front of people. This way, I feel free to work on my performances and to improve my ways of approaching a character. Besides developing my ability of speaking in front of people, I have improved the way I am using my voice. Some time ago I used to speak really soft and I couldn’t express my thoughts and communicate my ideas, because people weren’t really hearing me or listening to me. I have always tried to correct myself through acting and I still do it.
Also, my induction performance made me realize that I could have done much better than that and that I didn’t put enough of myself in my performance. I settled myself limits and I don’t need those at all.
Did I receive feedback? Oh yeah, from a few more people than I expected and it was good feedback. Some of my classmates, some of the level 2 acting students and some dance students told me and Elena that we were good and that really made me happy. Al, Shelley, my dance tutor congratulated us all for the show.
This performance was the first one in this college and I really appreciate the attention everyone payed to the people performing on the scene.
