Broken Hearted Theatre workshop
Wednesday, the 28th of November 2018

We have been announced some time ago that we were going to have workshops with this theatre and that they were interested in working with us and teach us techniques they use quite a lot, like the power to manipulate others and tactics to achieve your objective. My mind was like: “Hm, do I get to meet other people with acting skills? Great, another opportunity to learn more and maybe involve myself in projects.”
So, in the morning we were there and even though some of my classmates were late, we didn’t waste time and started the workshop. There were two people that came to our college and from the beginning they had a requirement for all of us: to get our shoes and socks off. We weren’t really feeling it and some of us didn’t want to do this because they weren’t quite comfortable or they had other reasons, but they accepted to get their shoes off. At the beginning I wasn’t sure if I will take my socks off too; it wasn’t a big deal, but there were only two persons who did that. After a minute, I got rid of them because I was thinking: it was a simple request and there will follow so much bigger ones in acting. Maybe I will feel a little uncomfortable, but that’s what this is all about: to push our limits, to get out of your comfort zone and to feel secure about yourself (I am still working on that).
After all, it was a nice workshop. We played dynamic games, like the one where we were standing in 5 rows and we had to switch with other rows, paying attention to what numbers a person was shouting to us; games where we needed to use tactics to get the object we wanted; in this case, a shoe and we weren’t allowed to talk about it or mention it. What I liked most was that at the end; each one of us wrote a little story about a subject we wanted, it was our choice and the stories were anonymous. After we finished writing, they took them all, mixed them and distribute one to every person. It was funny, because we had to read them one by one in front of the others and some of us didn’t understand what it was written on the paper, but somehow we managed to decipher most of all. Some stories were funny, some were inspiring and some were life stories; they kept them, saying that we were going to do something more with these.
The two guys that represented the Broken Hearted Youth Theatre expressed their will to work with us in some future projects and that they were going to come once a month to our college to do workshops and to develop some of our skills that they were focused on.
